Hipobuy, described through its own documents

What Hipobuy is, how its documents name the company you deal with, its own rule on counterfeits, and an honest answer to when another agent would suit you better.

Hipobuy in one paragraph: an agent that buys, stores and ships

Hipobuy is a buying agent: it purchases goods on Chinese platforms on your behalf. Paste a listing address from one of the big marketplaces, or use the Fill and Buy form for platforms such as Goofish, pay for the item, and a buyer purchases it for you, normally within six working hours, 09:00 to 18:00 China time. The goods go to Hipobuy’s warehouse, where they are checked and photographed, then wait, free for 90 days, until you put them in a parcel and pay for shipping.

Its Service and Fees page says there is no agent service fee: the total is the item cost, international shipping and customs clearance charges, plus any extra services you pick. Its About Us page dates the Hipo purchasing platform to 2019 and its relaunch under the Hipobuy name to 2024. The site runs in eight languages. The slogan on its sharing image reads “Speed, Style, Service”.

Who the documents say you are dealing with

Hipobuy’s footer and Contact Us page list five companies as joint operators. Two are in Hong Kong: Hong Kong Chivas Trading Co., Limited, Tai Kok Tsui, and Hong Kong Jointown Trading Co., Limited, company number 72090932, Kwai Chung. One is in Poland, VISTULA TECH SP. Z O.O. of Warsaw; one in the United Kingdom, EVERLINE TRADING CO., LIMITED of Kington; and one, Yeapp Limited, in Road Town on Tortola.

The documents you agree to name the operator in their own ways. The order-page Service Terms define Hipobuy as these jointly operating entities and print the same five at the end, though their section 1 carries a different list. The Registration Agreement gives the registered-user service to Beijing Huanpeng Technology Co., Ltd. The help-centre copy of the Service Terms gives ownership to Hipobuy Inc. The iOS app is published by a sixth name, Southern Times International Trade Limited. We report the names; we do not guess the relationships.

Hipobuy’s own anti-counterfeiting terms

Hipobuy’s own rule on counterfeits is section 8 of the Service Terms, the document behind the order page. It opens by requiring every product bought through the site to be genuine and banning the sale of anything that is not, then warns: “Failure to abide by this policy may result in loss of purchase privileges, funds being withheld, and disposal of inventory in our possession.” Later paragraphs make checking authenticity the buyer’s job and add that orders are not delivered until Hipobuy is satisfied they are genuine.

Two other Hipobuy texts point the same way. Class XI of the prohibited list bans counterfeit and pirated products, and the Search Terms say Hipobuy makes no judgement on whether the products it finds are genuine. Put together: Hipobuy forbids buying fakes, and does not check authenticity for you. A Registration Agreement clause that treats counterfeit goods as a customs risk is a liability disclaimer; it is not a permission.

Why Hipobuy, and when another agent fits better

Why Hipobuy, in three parts. First, what every agent of this kind shares: you pay up front, the agent buys from a Chinese platform, the warehouse photographs your goods, and international shipping is a second payment made later. None of that is special to Hipobuy.

Second, what is specific to Hipobuy on its own pages: no agent service fee on Service and Fees; a shipping estimator anyone can use without an account; a five-day return window that it negotiates with sellers; and documents that, as this site shows, are at least all published and reachable before you pay.

Two panels: reasons Hipobuy's own pages give, such as no agent service fee and a public estimator; reasons to look elsewhere, such as four different forums and no published support hours

Third, when to use another agent instead. If you want one law and one forum across everything you sign, Hipobuy’s documents name four. If you need support at fixed hours in your time zone, Hipobuy does not publish customer-service hours. And if you want an agent that checks authenticity, Hipobuy says plainly that it does not; no agent should be trusted to.

How to choose an agent you can trust: read the contract first

How to choose an agent you can trust: before comparing prices, read the contract. A trustworthy agent publishes its documents where you can open them before paying, and those documents answer five questions without a support ticket.

  • Which document sits behind the order button, and can I open it from that page?
  • Which law and which forum does it name, and is it the same across documents?
  • Who does it say I am dealing with, and does that match the footer?
  • How can it change, and will I be told?
  • What happens to my money if a payment is disputed? At Hipobuy, a help article says a PayPal or card chargeback locks the account automatically until it is withdrawn.
Checklist of five questions: which document is behind the order button, which law and forum, who you deal with, how it changes, what happens in a payment dispute
Five questions to ask of any agent's documents.

Hipobuy answers all five on its own pages, even where the answers are awkward. That is a fair test for any agent.

Other agents you will see next to Hipobuy

Spreadsheet sites list several other agents next to Hipobuy, and most work the same way: a registration agreement at sign-up, service terms near the order button, a separate shipping agreement at parcel time, a privacy statement and a returns policy. The names differ; the places to look are the same.

When you compare other agents, use this site’s method rather than its conclusions. Open each agent’s registration page and read the checkbox, find the law clause at the end of its service terms, and look for a link beside its parcel button. Two agents can charge the same and still ask you to agree to very different things.
